Deardorff, beloved and only daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J.D.W. Deardorff, died at the home of her parents in Mountjoy township last Friday morning at 2 o'clock from a complication of diseases, due directly to consumption, aged 24 years, 4 months and 7 days. About two years ago Miss Deardorff was advised by her physician to spend some time at the Mt. Alto Sanitarium, she possessing the symptoms of weak lungs. Acting on this advice she passed two years at the famous tuberculosis resort and was getting along nicely until about two weeks ago, when a sudden change for the worse occurred. She was brought to her home and continued to grow worse until she peacefully passed away as above stated. Of Miss Deardorff it can be truthfully said she was a Christian woman. Fortified with the sacraments of the church, with calm resignation, proving her heart's self-mastering power to part with all she passed from earth, bequeathing to her friends the hallowed memories of her virtues. Prior to her death she realized that the end was near, but never a murmur of complaint fell from her lips. Only a few days before she died she requested that the minister who would officiate at her funeral take his text from the 21st chapter of Revelations, the 4th verse. She also selected her pall bearers. The funeral was held Monday morning, Rev. W.W. Hartman, of the Methodist church officiating. Interment in Evergreen cemetery. The pall bearers were Fred Troxel, Wm. and Kenton Meals, Guy Harnish, John Hersey and John Weaver, the three former being cousins. A number of deceased's acquaintances from the Mt. Alto Sanitarium attended the funeral. Deceased is survived by her parents and one brother, Edgar.
